EW YORK CITY — 17 SEPTEMBER 2026: On the eve of the UN General Debate (UNGA 81), Diplomatic Courier will commemorate its twentieth anniversary with a special event titled: “Diplomatic Soirée: 20 Years Forward.” The Soirée, convened with the Global Embassy, brings together close partners and stakeholders who have contributed to Diplomatic Courier’s work over two decades and who are helping shape the future of global diplomacy.

Rold will also share key themes emerging from the day’s private Signal Salons on the Future of Education and Philanthropy, and how those insights will inform Diplomatic Courier’s work leading into Davos 2027.

A  major highlight of the evening will be the announcement of the final recipient of the 2026 cohort of Diplomatic Courier’s new awards program, The Envoys, George Papandreou, former Prime Minister of Greece.

Two Decades of Diplomacy Beyond the Corridors

"Everyone's Business" tells story of how Diplomatic Courier evolved from magazine to champion for a better kind of diplomacy.

“Everyone’s Business” traces the twenty-year history of Diplomatic Courier, following its evolution from magazine to convener to champion for a better kind of diplomacy in the 21st century. From a magazine founded on the conviction that the world’s most impactful conversations should be accessible to the public, Diplomatic Courier evolved into a trusted global affairs media network and convener, bringing together voices from across sectors, generations, and geographies to solve shared problems through the framework of its World in 2050 megatrends

“By opening a window into the locked away rooms of multilateral meetings, we learned that diplomacy is not just of interest to all, it is practiced far more broadly than most imagine,” said Ana Rold, CEO & Founder of Diplomatic Courier.

“The Envoy” Award

“The Envoy” Award celebrates exceptional leaders who have advanced dialogue, cooperation, and solutions to global challenges in ways that redefine what it means to be an ordained diplomat. The inaugural cohort was recognized during the Capital Dialogues in Washington, DC on the sidelines of the IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings.

Mr. Pandreou is being recognized for bridge-building diplomacy through his work at Symi Symposium.

At the Diplomatic Soirée, Former Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou (2009–2011) will be recognized as the final member of the 2026 cohort of The Envoys. Inaugural inductee and Diplomatic Courier Board Member Dante Disparte will join Rold in presenting the award.

Mr. Papandreou is recognized for bridge-building diplomacy, both across cultures and across sectors. Through his work at the annual international forum Symi Symposium, which he founded, Mr. Papandreou has sought to address democratic backsliding and pilot deliberative and direct democratic methods of civic engagement. Mr. Papandreou’s career demonstrates the power of connecting across preconceived lanes, making him a truly fitting inductee into this cohort of honorees.
