At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland this year, the theme is “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age.” By “Intelligent Age,” they refer to the combined effects of rapid innovations in artificial intelligence, quantum computing and blockchain that create an environment of societal transformation—for good or ill. “Collaboration,” then, refers to the need to work together to make sure these transformations serve us all.
The sub–themes at this year’s Davos, “Rebuilding Trust,” “Reimagining Growth,” “Investing in People,” “Safeguarding the Planet,” and “Industries in the Intelligent Age” are as reflective of our shared polycrisis challenges and fragmenting societies as they are of opportunity. Successfully finding ways to truly collaborate, then, isn’t just about finding a better future. It’s also about finding a future where things aren’t much worse.
In this edition of our annual Davos Dialogues special series, we asked members of our World in 2050 Brain Trust to reflect on each of the sub-themes (with, predictably, a great deal of overlap!). We also include some thoughts from our staff on what to expect to be highlights on this year’s agenda.
You can find the special edition here, and our introduction here. As always, feel free to reach out with any feedback or if you’d like to be involved with what we do.
We hope you enjoy!
