The world is changing, fast. Our institutions are all struggling to keep up, and the UN is struggling more than most. As UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned, “We can’t build a future for our children with a system built for our grandparents.” Updating our institutions is critical, but so is the need to find a way to foster global cooperation at a time when trust and cooperation on the world stage are a rarity. The UN Summit of the Future is laser focused on encouraging cooperation and joint commitments, but will it be enough?
