orldwide — December 01, 2025: Diplomatic Courier today will host “World in 2050’s Annual Visionary Retreat,” an annual convening of World in 2050’s multi-disciplinary network of experts, Senior Fellows, and Brain Trust to review the year, preview the year ahead, and engage in workshops.

We are now only 25 years away from 2050. With the future approaching fast, we are moving our focus beyond ideating to action and impact. During 2025, this pivot led to four audacious projects launched, in partnership with members of our Brain Trust, and more in the making. Across these audacious projects, we are translating vision into reality: designing and deploying solutions that challenge the status quo and reimagine systems that have long failed to serve humanity.

Hosted by Diplomatic Courier CEO Ana C. Rold and Editor-in-Chief Shane Szarkowski, PhD, with keynote welcome remarks by World in 2050 Chair Ambassador Lisa Gable, this retreat invites participants to problem solve for the world’s stickiest problems.

Featured speakers (in order of appearance) include:

The expert group will address questions such as:

  • What would the world look like if the value of our data flowed back to us automatically, continuously, and by design?
  • What are the defining attributes of a sovereign workforce that could exist in 2030, which are missing today?
  • What is standing in the way of institutional or personal adoption of digital ID solutions for displaced populations?
  • If uncertainty, disruption, and AI saturation are inevitable, what foundational skills must we prioritize now for resilient, relevant education systems by 2050?
  • What pieces are missing to transform digital literacy from a privilege tied to access, into a truly universal right?
  • How would our world be different if we treated the consumption and measurement of information the way we treat nutrition?

To close the session, Diplomatic Courier founder Ana C. Rold will reflect on how global affairs has evolved in the 20 years since its founding, as well as what to expect in the coming five years of action and impact.
