Duane Dickson is a practical, strategic, and results oriented leader focused on the energy transition, positive climate impact, and cleantech. 

Current roles and responsibilities:

  • Senior Advisor & Industry Expert - Chemicals, Materials and Energy – Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI)

Duane’s focus at Breakthrough Energy, Mattiq and RMI is to support and enable development of energy and materials systems that mitigate or avoid GHG emissions. His role at BEV is to work with portfolio companies to help shape and develop new markets and clean energy/infrastructure technologies, to help portfolio companies scale, and to participate in governance where appropriate and necessary. At Mattiq, his focus is on rapid development of technologies and markets that enable development of new materials via new chemical pathways, making existing materials better through new pathways (e.g., electrochemistry), and reducing the carbon footprint of materials and energy. At RMI, his roles include senior expert for the growing chemicals, materials, and refining industry vertical, as well as a key contributor in energy systems development, decarbonization pathways, and sustainable infrastructure/hub architecture and development.

Duane sits on the Board of Koloma, a geological hydrogen start-up, since the company’s inception and is very active in supporting efforts to de-risk and scale this Company. Koloma’s focus is to bring abundant, natural (green) hydrogen to the markets that demand it. He is also a member of the Knowde Advisory Board since its’ inception and actively supports the company’s efforts to become the pre-eminent commercial digital platform for the chemical industry.
